The State Of thehidden

Dear “Journal”,

About a year and a half ago, I found myself sitting on the edge of my bed with my finger nervously dancing over the “Publish” button on my Iphone 6. I was getting ready to do the “craziest” thing in my life”: launch a company. I didn’t know then, but pressing that button that day would change my life forever. It would force me to be unapologetically honest with myself, because now my story was on full display.

Looking back, It felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff, with my toes hanging over the edge, and telling myself to not look down and just jump. “Just do it” I remember telling myself. And when that finger finally pressed the “publish”, I haven’t looked back. And I am so thankful that I never have.

Pressing a publish button on a blog website, may not seem like a big deal. But to me, pressing the publish button was just as terrifying as revealing the curtain to show your artwork to the world for the very first time. And that “artwork” was me. All the years of scars, pain, heartbreak, and anxiety... all on full display. But to be honest, pressing a publish button allowed me to open up to all of you and that is what I am forever grateful for. It’s important to note that all of those feelings have led to growth.

And that’s where I feel like thehidden has been my journal or my canvas which has reflected my progress to wrestle with the journey of growing up. Even though, in our first year we sold clothes, it was never just a clothing line to me. It’s never been solely about the clothes. It’s been about telling stories, sharing those stories, and inviting you to take part.

"inspire 1,000,000 people"

So now the state of thehidden, currently, is to double down on the original mission: create a lifestyle clothing brand to empower people to never hide who they are. In fact, the mission has always been to inspire 1,000,000 people in that effort. (I don’t think I’ve ever written that down..)

In order to make that a reality, I want to turn that mirror away from me and share the power of thehidden with you. I want to give people the same opportunity thehidden gave me to talk about my story. So if you have something you want to share, please reach out here.

I also want to give you tips, stories, and interviews that encourage you to be who you are.

It’s almost like thehidden is just one big journal, and you’re reading. That’s the state of thehidden. That’s where we are going.

Are you ready?
